There are a lot of "good" people in this world. Many of them do good things hoping that will get them into heaven. And besides, they certainly haven't done really "bad" things like murder and rape.
But the Bible says that, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) And another place the Bible says, "All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment." (Isaiah 64:6) Given that perspective, it doesn't seem too wise to depend on a "filthy garment" to buy our way into heaven.
